Challenge: In compliance with VAWD regulations, a controlled room temperature storage area was required for a select group of prescription items.
Established in 2004, VAWD®, or VerifiedAccredited Wholesale Distributors, is an accreditation from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP). Established for pharmaceutical wholesale distribution facilities, it protects the public from counterfeit drugs and ensures a secure drug supply chain. Recognizing the importance of VAWD accreditation, this medical distribution facility engaged in the comprehensive accreditation process. During the process, it was determined that an isolated 10,000 square foot room was needed to properly store a select group of pharmaceutical products.
The distribution facility has been leased since 2009 with the plan to move in the near future. The thermal wall solution needed to meet the following criteria:
Maintain a temperature range of 68°F – 86°F (20°C – 30°C)
Modular in design such that the organization could reuse the panels when they move to a new location
Install quickly – within five working days – with no facility downtime
InsulWall was selected as the thermal curtain wall solution to help meet VAWD’s stringent temperature control guidelines. A 10,000 square foot room with 30 foot high ceilings was constructed using InsulWall in five working days. Its modularity and ability to move with the organization were also key factors in the decision. According to the Director of Operations, “I was extremely impressed with the speed and simplicity of the installation.” Additionally, InsulWall’s flexibility was put to the test. During installation, the installer realized that the ceiling height was measured incorrectly resulting in “short” InsulWall panels. Incremental panels seamlessly augmented the original length to quickly correct this situation.
